Over 300 Employees Suspended at Belgian Port After Failing Drug Security Checks

More than 300 employees at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges were suspended after failing new drug-related security checks introduced by Belgian authorities to curb organized drug crime. Since 2025, about 16,678 port workers have been screened, with roughly 1.9% receiving negative security assessments, leading to immediate suspensions from sensitive roles. Affected workers can still enter the port but cannot hold critical positions. The measures aim to prevent individuals with possible links to drug trafficking from working in key areas.
