Annisa Hidayat, Head of Pre-employment Screening for Integrity-Indonesia |
Grab a latte and pull up a chair and join us for a great interview with Annisa Hidayat, Head o Pre-employment Screening for Integrity-Indonesia.
After earning her Master’s Degree in Law in Utrecht University, the Netherlands, I started my career as Junior Associate in a law firm based in Jakarta, Hiswara, Bundjamin&Tandjung. In the following years, another opportunity came along and she started working as a Legal Researcher in an HSE consultant company, Environment Essentials in Melbourne, Australia. She smiled as she said she was lucky to be part of a team that served Indonesian clients to stay up-to-date with environmental and safety regulations. This experience led me to understand that law and compliance are safeguards for the wellbeing and the reputation of our client’s business. This experience paved the way for her to enter the background screening industry and to join Integrity Indonesia.
Annisa shared that once she came into the background screening industry she learned that fraud can come in many different forms and on many levels. She noted that this is a downside of technology which enables people to forge documents and provide misleading information. In a very serious tone she shared that she once saw a candidate who forged a scanned document which looked 99% like the original. Since having this experience she fully understands why all information must be checked and verified..
Turning the conversation to Integrity-Indonesia, Annista shared the company’s mission and vision:
Our mission is to be Asia’s leading provider of corporate risk prevention, detection, and investigation services. Our mission is to provide our clients with the most effective and reliable risk mitigation services carried out by local experts with the highest international standards of integrity.
She went on to share that Integrity-Indonesia has developed their own proprietary system called PRISMA and is continuously improving it by adding new features based on experience and industry requirements.
She added that it has been a daunting challenge to conduct screening in Indonesia since the country is an archipelago of 17.000 islands spread over a distance of over 5000 kilometers and the fourth most populous country in the world. Add to this the reality that information is often not centralized.
Background Screening is a third of the companies activities. Integrity Indonesia also has divisions that focus on Fraud prevention and Investigation as wekk as Brand Protection. The screening team is comprised of 25 people whereas the total company employs 78 employees.
When asked about the what she sees coming in the future for the Background screening industry in Indonesia she expects the market to continue to grow as more companies realize the importance of conducting background checks for their new hires and employees. She also projects that, in the future, the Indonesian Government will move towards having an online and centralized database for all data which will make more integration with our possible.
Moving back to her personal interest she shared that she loves reading Sidney Sheldon’s books. ”After the darkness” is one of her favorite. She said, “From front to back, the story unfolds in such a way you must keep turning the pages to see what happens next. Many different emotions and twists and turns were felt in this book.“
The person she would most like to meet is Richard Branson, founder Virgin Group and her favorite quote is “Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude.”
