New York City employers wouldn’t be allowed to require job candidates to submit to drug testing for marijuana (THC) as a condition of hiring, under a bill approved by the City Council.
The bill does make exceptions for safety and security sensitive jobs, as well as jobs tied to federal or state contracts.
Pending signature from Mayor Bill de Blasio, the Bill will take effect one year after being signed.
