New Child Care Background Check Bill Leaves More Questions Than Answers

In an effort to further protect children and ensure that child care consumers are making the most informed decisions about who they hire to care for their children, Assembly member Patty Lopez has authored Assembly Bill 2036 that imposes additional restrictions on businesses providing online childcare job posting services in California. The new law would require those online services who claim to run thorough background checks to provide a written description of the background check provided by the background screener. Details also should include a listing of each county and its databases, the source of the data, the data date range, and a list of counties for which no information is available.
