You Cant Replace Your Fingerprints

Technology research firm Gartner has estimated that 30 percent of companies will be using biometric identification on their employees, but this identification option is not as safe or foolproof as one may believe. When a gym, mobile phone company and doctor all have biometric details and those systems become hacked, remediation of the problem will prove much more difficult, if not impossible. In fact, hackers have used everyday Play-Doh to create fingerprint molds good enough to fool 90 percent of fingerprint readers. But proponents of biometric security argue that it is inherently more secure because fingerprints are an immutable physical attribute that cant be altered by criminals. Doctors in China, however, have created a thriving business in biometric surgery, using skin graphing to swap out fingerprints with others.
